This place has started having bands on fidays once a month - worth checking it out for some decent local bands plus a big mix of music afterwards - indie and rock to easy and cheesy!

WHAT MEZE WALLAS SEEM TO FORGET IS MEZE IS A 180 CAPACITY PUB (ADMITTEDLY OFTEN OPEN WITH MORE THAN ITS LEGAL FIRE CAPACITY)
BASSMENT IS A 600 CAPACITY NITECLUB, I LOVE PUBS BUT WOULD RATHER DRINK IN: MURENGER, BAILEYS, ANGEL, LE PUB, THE IN *TY PSEUDO PUB? CLUB? BURGER BAR? EXOTIC HAMSTER HIRE EMPORIUM? AND COMING SOON MEZE THE MOVIE (I'M ONLY 12 AND IT'S THE ONLY PLACE I CAN GET IN!) PART 2

Granted, the basement has a good atmosphere when its packed, but thats onyl really at 12:30am on a saturday morning / friday night. Nothing amazing really. Its good, but not great. If i were you id go to meze, better atmosphere, better crowd, bigger range of music.

The Bassment. An awesome alternative place to go. Wayyyy better than the Meze. The staff are friendly and the music is always amazing ranging from The Prodigy to Julliet and The Licks. Drinks should be cheaper, but is's a good night out and well worth the money.

Getting better

Few weeks after opening it's starting to liven up, but was in there Wednesday and it was empty til well gone 12, so my advice is get there late. Tis a good night once people start dancing, it's the only point of going there. Drinks are expensive and on most nights it's either the same or more expensive to get in than Meze. They need some drinks offers to entice people in!

meze....i have to admit i go there, but it costs a fortune to get in there and it's nothing special....generally just go straight to the bassment now.

I love the bassment. Went this weds and had a wicked night. I think the trick is to go to baileys first until eleven then walk down to the bassment, it's busy then.

If you want a decent night out in the port...go to the bassment.x

Go to Meze

Went on wednesday and it was dead. This place has taken very nearly a year to re-open and a week after it's supposed big launch it was dead. Wednesday's student night and hence if they'd bothered to advertise probably would have been full of students but instead it was filled with nothing more than a handful of people. I hope the weekend proves to be better otherwise I'll be giving the bassment a miss for quite some time. I fail to see why it took so long to refurbish the place. Go to Meze.

So glad it's back!
